The California Fire Prevention Organization (CFPO) is a non-profit public benefit 501 (c) (3) corporation. The organization is focused on reducing injuries and fatalities as a result of fire throughout the State of California. A key component of the program is to partner with cities that can benefit from the fire and life safety education and awareness our organization can provide.
As a partner for the California Fire Prevention Organization (and MySafe:California,) MySafe:Riverside is focused on education and awareness, both for specific segments of the public and the fire service. By demonstrating a commitment to community risk reduction (CRR), not just as a phrase for PR, but as a functional process, the City of Riverside is stepping into a new life safety world.
Working in close collaboration with the Riverside Fire Department, MySafe:Riverside will focus on several key initiatives, including:
Junior Fire Inspectors: MySafe:RIV will teach 4th and 5th grade students to be FireSmart:RIV – and to inspect their homes for working smoke alarms. Families without smoke alarms will receive them at no cost. Students you complete the program will earn Jr Fire Inspector ID Cards and have them presented by Riverside firefighters.
SAFE at Home: MySafe:RIV will work with local partners to ensure at-risk neighborhoods are visited and homes are checked for working smoke alarms and CO detectors. Our teams will install these life saving devices for FREE, provide each family with a series of fire safety information, and teach them how to speak with a 911 call taker, escape from their home, and what do do in the event of a fire anywhere in their residence. It’s all part of our FIRE BURNS, SMOKE KILLS™ initiative.
Community Outreach: We’ll create new public service announcements, visit withparents and older adults, conduct a realistic firefighter and disabled student earthquake drill, and much, much more. Visit this website often, and you’ll get a chance to join us online as we work to support your Riverside Fire Department. Remember, they’re ready to help you 24/7/365. If you have any type of emergency, don’t hesitate to dial 9-1-1.
If you have questions about our program, don’t hesitate to reach out and contact us.
Our team focuses on studying a community, identifying risks, and evaluating those risks. Then we develop and deploy risk-reduction programs that help people within that community be better prepared.
An experienced board of directors, combined with a highly trained Executive Officer manage MySafe:Riverside. The management team includes fire officers, educators, and health experts. All officers donate their time.
Our programs take nationally recognized concepts in fire and life safety and localize them for better community engagement. We partner with fire departments and other agencies to ensure we’re sharing expertise, not duplicating it.
