For homeowner’s associations (HOAs) that join the Riverside Wildfire Alliance, one of the key opportunities is to become a recognized California Fire Safe Council. This is a different program than the NFPA’s Firewise USA initiative. Key to this initiative is the creation of multiple fire safe councils in vulnerable communities throughout the State of California. More local means a better understanding of each county – and in fact, there is a County Coordinator for each county in the State of California.

MySafe:Riverside fulfills the responsibility of being the County Wildfire Coordinator for the County of Riverside. Our actions will support development of better wildfire preparedness, survival, and resilience within those communities considered to be in Very High Fire Severity Zones, as defined by CAL FIRE. Social vulnerability factors including social isolation, poverty, language barriers, and other access and functional needs challenges.
