Building Firesafe Communities – Together

As wildfires grow more intense and unpredictable across Southern California, one thing is clear: no one can do this alone. Creating truly firesafe communities takes a collaborative effort—and right here in Riverside County, MySafe:Riverside is showing how it’s done.

A division of the Safe Community Project, MySafe:Riverside works hand-in-hand with local fire departments, city governments, and the people who call the WUI home. From homeowners and HOAs to public officials and first responders, everyone has a role to play—and when they work together, the results are powerful.

Partnerships That Make a Difference

MySafe:Riverside partners with fire agencies to deliver clear, coordinated fire prevention education and on-the-ground support. Whether it’s a neighborhood walkthrough or a wildfire preparedness workshop, these efforts extend the reach of local fire departments and build trust with the community.

They also support city leaders and planners, helping integrate wildfire safety into general plans, building codes, and vegetation management policies. This behind-the-scenes collaboration helps lay the foundation for safer neighborhoods countywide.

Helping Residents Take Action

At the heart of the mission is empowering people. Through town halls, home hardening assessments, and HOA partnerships, MySafe:Riverside is making wildfire risk reduction understandable and achievable. Residents are learning how to create defensible space, prepare for evacuations, and build homes that are better protected from embers and flames.

It’s not about fear—it’s about resilience.

Progress Through Partnership

Thanks to these efforts, we’re seeing real change. Communities are working together. HOAs are updating landscaping rules. Residents are stepping up to take action—not because they have to, but because they want to. That’s the power of collaboration.

Want to be part of it? Join a local fire-safe council, attend an event, or schedule a home safety visit. Together, we can build a safer, more fire-adapted Riverside County.
